Last year I received a stuffed animal of a polar bear. Seems small, but the note read that the family had an autistic son who’s nonverbal, and whose only words would mainly be polar bear. Somehow, being autistic myself, it made me feel much less alone in this world. The gifts being sent around my birthday and Christmas, both which are super hard times for me, made me cry tears of joy, made me feel like people would always look out for me even if we are all strangers to one another.
